Mayor Lori Lightfoot said Thursday she wants to reopen Chicago’s bars and restaurants for indoor service as soon as possible.

“If we look at the different criteria that the state has set, we meet most, if not all, so this is a conversation I will have with the governor,” she said.

Would it be too much to ask whether people have actually checked the mayor now and then? I know she’s the mayor and everything, but still.

1) The city’s current positivity rate of 7 days is 9.8 percent. It was between 9.8 and 10.5 last week. According to the criteria set by the state, the opening of restaurants for three days has a positivity rate of less than or equal to 6.5 percent.

2) Chicago’s medical training hospitals were below the 20 percent threshold for 8 consecutive days. According to IDPH, the level is currently at 17.5 percent.
