The Washington Capitals signed shockingly Zdeno Chara away from the Boston Bruins on Wednesday to a $ 795,000 deal for one year. The 43-year-old legend may not have been what he was, but his new Capitals teammates are thankful they never have to face him again.
Chara is the longest playing player in NHL history and plays a physical, grueling game. The Norris Trophy winner is an impossible gang and blocks almost everything that is thrown at him. He also has a power play; he possesses one of the toughest slaps in NHL history.
TJ Oshie and Tom Wilson were the first players to respond to the news and expressed their gratitude that they would no longer be as bruised and battered as before.
“Looking forward to not doing it again!” Oshie said along with a photo with Chara covering him to the ice. “At least not in games … Welcome to DC Big Z !!! #ALLCAPS ”

Defender of the capitals Brenden Dillon posted a photo of Chara yelling at him. “I think we’ll have to continue this conference in the locker room?” Dillon joked.
