Last year, Capcom had a leak called a game Resident Evil outrage was scheduled for a Q4 2021 release.
As told earlier by Capcom insider Skemer Golem, this title is apparently Resident Evil Revelations 3 (or was at least originally mentioned at some point during development) and will be a “link-oriented RE game”, but not exclusive to the platform.
The same insider has now backed the previous claims – saying the game will be released within a year [Resident Evil] Village’s release, which appears in May this year, and will be part of Capcom’s major 25-year celebrations for its long-running survival horror series.
‘It does not come from me, but for the record, Revelation 3 appears within a year of the Village’s release date, late 2021 or early 2022.
“Releases as part of their 25th anniversary celebrations, with Village, will almost certainly be an exclusive Switch time. But it will be announced later this year, as Village deserves the attention and will be out in a few months. Now!”
Dusk Golem further explains how the game runs ‘100%’ on the RE Engine that Capcom used Monster Hunter Rise and although it is a ‘time-exclusive’, it will be released ‘over all’ as a cross-generation game. It was also mentioned how Rebecca would still be the protagonist:
“I first heard from Rev 3 in 2017 that it would play Rebecca, and I’ve been updated a few times over the years. It’s still a Rebecca game. I’m half aware of who the 2nd and 3rd protagonists too, both return characters, but these lips are zipped for now. “
Dusk Golem previously showed a new Monster Hunter game for Switch well before the official announcement – and explains how it will work on the RE Engine.
The last entry in the Rule of Revelation was Resident Evil Revelations 2 – an episodic approach to the survival horror series, which was originally launched in 2015 and appeared on Switch in 2017.
