Gaming laptops have gone from strength to strength after Nvidia came up with its Pascal graphics architecture, which has brought the mobile GeForce performance closer to that of its desktop on the desktop. The Turing architecture introduced more power and beam detection capabilities that filtered from desktop GeForce cards to computer variants.
But at CES 2021, Nvidia removes the lids of the new GeForce graphics cards, which were torn down by Ampere, on the laptop. Coming in the GeForce RTX 3080, RTX 3070 and RTX 3060 variations – more on the latter later – it promises to deliver not only pixel thrust in a laptop form, but also access to the latest jet tracking and DLSS technology.
Now we have seen RTX cards in laptops before. But 2021’s laptops are starting to look even better thanks to a helping hand from the most unlikely places: AMD.
Nvidia’s big graphics competitor has processed its Ryzen 5000 U and H series laptops, using its new Zen 3 architecture that promises powerful performance even in thin and light laptops. When mixed with the new GeForce RTX 30 Series graphics, we’re looking at laptops that’m really exciting.
Legions of Nvidia GeForce RTX Laptops Come
Nvidia claims that about 70 laptops are expected to come with the new GeForce RTX graphics. And with prices starting at $ 999, it looks affordable too.
Take the Acer Triton 300 SE As an example, this slim laptop offers an easy way to get a good amount of gaming power and the GeForce RTX 3060, without the hassle of trying to buy the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 Ti – the closest equivalent to the upcoming RTX 3060 .
The MSI Stealth 15M is touted as the ‘thinnest 15-inch laptop in the world’, but also with the RTX 3060, which means the next generation of jet tracking performance is on the way.
Both of these laptops, along with Asus, Razer, Gigabyte, Lenovo and more, add RTX 30 series graphics – often with AMD’s new laptops – to a range of their machines.

Speaking of Asus, it went a step further and introduced the ROG Flow X13, an ultra-portable laptop with a new AMD CPU and a GeForce GTX 1650, which can be loaded with a custom external RTX 3080. It costs $ 3000, but it’s not too far from some RTX 3080 gaming desks, and it’s much more flexible.
So, even if you are struggling to find where to buy the Nvidia RTX 3080, these new gaming laptops may be the answer to the constant shortage of graphics card.
Nvidia showcased a lot of GeForce and toys at CES 2021, so read on for a breakdown of the most interesting news and what we learned.
Nvidia Geforce RTX 3060 beats PS5 for $ 329
We knew that Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 3060 would arrive, but we did not expect it to overtake its predecessor, the RTX 2060. But at $ 329, it’s the cheapest amp graphics card Nvidia has and should appeal to people who want to build a strong gaming computer. aimed at 1440p games or 1080p actions at a very high frame rate, but still do not want to empty their bank account.
Nvidia calls it about 1.3x as powerful as a PS5. And compared to the GTX 1060, the RTX 3060 has twice the grid performance and 10x the radiation detection. We just hope it’s easier to buy than other cards in the GeForce RTX 30 series.
It should be available by the end of February. So if you have been eagerly awaiting a regular RTX card, then the GeForce RTX 3060 may be for you.
1440p and high refresh rates will appear on more laptops
Increasing amounts of gaming laptops are adopting high refresh rate displays, thanks to more powerful graphics that enable high frame rates at 1080p resolutions. And with GeForce RTX GPUs for laptops, 1080p games can be pushed even further. So there are many more laptops with screens with a 240Hz refresh rate or higher; the Asus ROG Zephyrus Duo 15 SE hit 300Hz.
But the power of GPUs like the GeForce RTX 3070 and RTX 3080 means it hardly breaks a silicon sweat at 1080p. As such, we can expect more gaming laptops to come with 1440p screens.
Since 4K is very demanding and probably too much for a compact laptop for laptops, 1440p is the sweet spot, which provides a sharper image but enough headroom for a GPU to also increase high frame rates. As such, 2021 will be the year of the laptop with a high refresh rate of 1440p, and we are very much looking forward to trying as much as possible.
More ray tracking and DLSS-supporting games coming
Given that the PS5 and Xbox Series X both support beam detection, it’s not a big surprise that more games offer support for the high light version technique. And Nvidia has revealed that games like the horror Five Nights at Freddy’s in the mall will get jet lag, as well as the action game FIST: Forged In Shadow Torch.
But Nvidia’s “RTX” terminology also covers its deep-learning supersampling technology that uses AI technology to cleverly render a game so that it looks bright with high resolutions but does not overload a GPU. It’s as smart as it gets complicated, but it’s impressive.
And Nvidia has revealed that Call of Duty: Warzone and Square Enix’s Outriders can take advantage of DLSS, hopefully paving the way for even more games to take advantage of RTX technology.
5 new game monitors will come with Nvidia GeForce Reflex Analyzer
Last year, Nvidia unveiled GeForce Reflex, which helps in a nutshell to measure and reduce the system’s latency in competitive games – basically the time it takes to click and display your action on screen.
Both Rainbow Six Siege and Overwatch, two hugely popular competitive multiplayer games, get GeForce Reflex support. But Nvidia has also revealed that five new monitors will come with G-Sync support, as well as the GeForce Reflex Analyzer, which, in combination with RTX technology, can measure the input delay and figure out how to reduce it.
So if you have a new GeForce RTX 30 Series graphics card or are planning to get a new laptop with the latest RTX technology, you may want to match it with a new screen filled with smart Nvidia technology.
With all of the above considerations, it looks like 2021 is going to be a great year to be a PC player or to enter PC games. Nvidia’s CES 2021 event was not only a big GeForce showcase, but a vehicle for excitement for games this year.
