Canceled ‘GoldenEye 007’ XBLA remaster footage discovered

Footage of a full playback of the canceled Xbox Live Arcade remaster of N64 games GoldenEye 007 turned up Youtube.

The video shows a full replay of the game, along with 30 minutes of multiplayer footage presented at 4K / 60 FPS on the Xenia Emulator. The emulator was used to play the recording of the game in this resolution and in a framework.

The remaster was originally scheduled to be released in 2007, and was subsequently canceled.

The opening of the game shows the characters of the N64 compared to their restored versions, completely revamped upgrade and with new HD textures.

In describing the video, Graslu00 posed a brief question, in which he said that the remaster will be released in 2021 in some form.

On Twitter Graslu00 also said that the footage is not related to a recent data leak via the 4chan message board, but rather that it is available at PartnerNet, a version of Xbox Live that is only available to developer owners.

While the XBLA version of the game was never released, a Wii version is titled GoldenEye 007 was released in 2010. Developed by Eurocom and published by Activision, it was later called an HD port GoldenEye 007: Reload.

In other James Bond news, Io Interactive, the developers of the Hitman a series has revealed that work has begun on a James Bond game, now known as Project 007.

The developer said that the game will be a “completely original” origin story for the character, as they want to earn their 00 status.

Since the news broke, Io has revealed the details of the interview with Barbara Broccoli and Eon Productions, the producers of the James Bond films. During the meeting, Broccoli said that previous games were not worthy of the license enough and that it was ‘violence for the sake of violence’.
