Camar Wheaton, a five-star Texas full-back, signed his letter of intent with Alabama on Wednesday.
He was the only remaining dedicated member of Alabama’s 2021 recruiting class who did not sign his intent. Wheaton, of Lakeview Centennial High School in Garland, Texas, becomes the 26th prospect in the cycle to score for the Tide.
Wheaton is considered the overall prospect no. 33 in 247 Sports’ composite and second judging races. He committed to Alabama in December.
Wheaton, however, was waiting to sign his letter of intent, and the two assistants who recruited him at Tuscaloosa – full-back coach Charles Huff and special team coach Jeff Banks, both went elsewhere last month new job adopted.
Oklahoma, who was Wheaton’s other finalist, was still considered for Wheaton.
Wheaton’s signing with Alabama means the Tide’s 2021 class is the highest rank in the history of 247 Sports’ rankings, surpassing Florida’s in 2010.
Wednesday is National Signing Day, but Alabama’s work was mostly completed during the early signing period in December, when 24 letters of intent were received. Many of them have already enrolled at the university.
