California police say Newsom reminder is a wake-up call after years of bad policy decisions

A California police officer asked his city council Thursday to sign a petition to recall Governor Gavin Newsom because his government is at the height of years of bad policy decisions that are hurting the state.

Adam Garcia, who has been working in law enforcement for nearly twenty years, cited failed policies that made the state a “safe haven for criminals” and escalated violence – problems exacerbated by the Newsom pandemic and response on it.

Garcia told Fox News on Sunday that he felt compelled to speak out because he had become ill.

“It’s getting bad out there. We’re starting to see the peak of a bunch of bad policies and state laws that have been in place for the past ten years now,” Garcia said. “Now it’s being combined with bad leadership in terms of how the governor governs California.”

Garcia said the state’s policy of using COVID-19 to kick prisoners out of jail is responsible for rising crime and a crisis for homelessness.

“I see what is happening there, and nothing is being done about it. Not from the attitude of the governor to the smallest parts of the government. Nothing is being done and something needs to be said.”

Garcia has the idea that the recall of Newsom is driven by partisan politics, and instead run by small business owners, and working people who could not help Newsom’s government during the pandemic.

“Newsom’s job was to help us get back to life as normally as possible while we moved safely through COVID. And he shut everyone down,” Garcia said. “And that’s why I think what you’re seeing right now is the whole thing. Business owners have another reason not to trust him. Schools have another reason not to trust him. If you look at everyone in California , everyone has a different kind of background that leads to their decision to want to ask him back. ‘

The organizers of the campaign to recall the governor said on Saturday that they had collected 1.5 million signatures – more than the required number to qualify for a vote. The campaign told Fox News on Saturday that they want to raise at least $ 1.8 million before the March 17 deadline to reimburse invalid signatures.

Voters will ask two questions: should Gavin Newsom be removed from office? And if so, who would be his replacement? If Newsom survives the recall, he will only complete his term of office, which ends on January 20th.

Garcia predicted that even if Newsom survived the repeal, it would not be a ‘wake-up call’ to change the state’s failed policy.

“If he stays in office, I do not think it will be a wake-up call for him at all. And I think you are going to see a bigger exodus from California,” Garcia said. “If he is recalled, I think it could be a good move in the right direction – not just for California, but for the rest of the country as well.”

The ‘movement’, Garcia said, has less to do with Republican or Democrat, and more to do with people being able to live in safe communities and safe schools.

“I think it would be a good message to send to the rest of the country that is so divided at the moment. Ultimately we all want the same thing, but we can unite through this. I think it will show that with ‘ a state as big as California, we can work together and achieve great things. ‘
