A young California boy born with cystic fibrosis is also struggling with a COVID-19 infection, his mother said.
Noah Schneider, 5, tested positive for the new virus just before the new year, his mother, Haley Schneider of Yuba City, California, told ABC’s “Good Morning America” on Monday. Noah probably contracted the virus from his father, who tested positive shortly before Noah became ill.
As he continued to recover, Noah asked people to send him stickers and tickets. His mother said Noah likes to play with stickers and work out of his hospital bed.

Since his birth, Noah has been hospitalized nearly 35 times and has needed a ventilator 20 times due to cystic fibrosis, a rare, inherited life-threatening disease that affects the lungs and digestive system, Schneider told the news station.
‘Due to Noah’s frequent need for a ventilator during recordings, he got a ditch [tube] in his throat on October 27, 2020, so it would be easier to ventilate without actually having to intubate him, ‘his mother said.

After contracting the new virus, Noah was hospitalized at Sutter Medical Center in Sacramento, where he lives today. During his stay, the five-year-old needed antiviral medication, plasma treatments, and was placed on a ventilator, Good Morning America reports.
Fortunately, however, Noah’s condition improved – albeit slowly.
“He is awake during the day, sleeps at night. He has no sedation medication,” his mother said. “He’s in bed playing.”
As he continued to recover, Noah asked people to send him stickers and tickets. His mother said Noah likes to play with stickers and work out of his hospital bed.
‘He was given five cards, but nurses gave him [stickers] and now he has a few thousand, “Schneider said,” Good Morning America. ” “He likes to get them. He asks almost every day, ‘Did I get a package?’

“He does not let it get him down,” she adds. “He was numb and still gives an inch to people.”
