BYU basketball: three keys to Cougars’ 79-73 win over San Francisco Dons

It was a little stressful, but the BYU Cougars kicked off their third straight win on Thursday night, beating the San Francisco Dons 79-73 at the Marriott Center in Provo. The win was the Cougars’ fifth in their last six games.

Here are three keys to the game.

  • BYU shot 59 percent from the field, compared to just 38 percent for San Francisco, though the Dons were able to manage to throw another seven free throws and make another three-pointer.
  • The Cougars win the rematch with 10 (23-13) and the setback with six (35-29).
  • Alex Barcello scored BYU’s last seven points over the last 1:37 of the game when San Francisco tried to make a late rally. For the evening, Barcello led all scorers with 29 points and set a school record by scoring a perfect 7 of 7 behind the three-point line.
