Byron Leftwich turned 41 last month. He has not played in the NFL since 2012.

Leftwich have spent the past two seasons as an attacking coordinator for the Buccaneers.

His fullback in 2020, Tom Brady, turns 44 in August, set a team record with 40 strokes, he has just won his seventh Super Bowl and plans to return in 2021 for a 22nd season.

Count Leftwich among the astonished.

“No. You just did not think it was possible, did you?” Leftwich replied when asked on the Huddle & Flow Podcast by Jim Trotter and Steve Wyche of NFL Media if he thought it was possible for Brady to succeed as he did. “As you looked at his band and I knew his arm was still alive, you know, you could tell me he still has a living arm. So you knew she was arm was alive. But then you come around to it, and look, look at that ball. It’s the type of ball he throws, it’s a friendly ball. It’s a penetrating ball.So it was unique to see that he could still do all these things .. Hell, I just turned 41 and I tried … and to see him I’m like, man, just to see how he can still do things that the young guys could doen. ‘

Brady will undergo surgery on his left knee, which apparently would not bother him in the start of all 20 games this season.

“He started this process twenty years ago, you know, 18, 17 years ago, and it’s a proof of hard work, understanding, an end goal in mind,” Leftwich said. ‘And you see all the sacrifices he had to make along the way to be able to play for so long. I mean, it’s amazing to see him do, but it’s amazing to see the dedication to ensure you can play for so long. ”
