By Dash driver caught on camera stealing puppy during delivery

WARREN, Mich. (WXYZ) – For dog owner Ashley Swinton, it was a heartbreaking discovery. Someone who delivers food to Door Dash at their home leaves with her 8-week-old puppy named Bella.

Police say the dog-napper later admitted to stealing the puppy when they tracked her down.

“The video evidence in this case is very convincing,” Det says. Brian Price with Warren Police.

Swinton told what she saw on video of the kidnapping of the puppy.

“You can see her petting the dog, and rubbing the dog to see if it’s angry,” Swinton said. “Then pick up the dog and take the dog to her car.”

It happened on New Year’s Day at their home on Rivard near Van Dyke.

“It’s even a new one for me,” Det said. Price said. “Quite shocking when you watch the video and see it happen right in front of you.”

It was good policing that led to the arrest. Costs are expected to be submitted soon.

“They admitted to stealing the dog,” Det said. Price said. ‘I found the dog back from the scene. Still in good health. We returned it to the family. ”

The 26-year-old suspect’s name has not yet been released.

Bella is very happy to be home with her family tonight. They say they are very grateful to the Warren police for their hard work in getting the puppy back to their children.
