Businesses in New Mexico ‘crushed’ by coronavirus restrictions, tears governor’s unfair guidelines

A business owner in New Mexico is calling on Democratic Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham for allowing gyms to reopen, but not his indoor activity park.

Thomas Garcia, owner of Urban Air Adventure Park, told Fox & Friends Weekend on Saturday that he was arguing with the governor of New Mexico over her unfair coronavirus restrictions because he was trying to close his business.

“I’ve been talking to the governor’s office for over six months,” Garcia said. “[The governor] told me she believes Urban Air can keep their guests safe, but she can not open us because we were in this category for leisure facilities for close contact. ‘

Urban Air Adventure Park is an entertainment venue that offers activities such as indoor skydiving, trampolines, ziplines and more.

Garcia further said he was confused by Grisham’s conflicting comments and suggested that the governor of New Mexico mimic Florida’s guidelines for reopening businesses safely.

The small business owner mentions that the Urban Air franchise in Florida was allowed to bring in customers after officials investigated the agency to ensure it was COVID-friendly, with temperature controls and guidelines for social distance. Garcia strongly advised Grisham to investigate how other states deal with restrictions to mitigate the virus.

“[Urban Air] “Garcia has 85 very good employees who work for us who do not currently have jobs,” Garcia said. “It’s not just about me. It’s about a whole bunch of other companies that are just completely crushed …”

Urban Air Adventure Park has 154 locations in America that have been safely reopened, except for the franchise in New Mexico.
