If you’re already shooting millions for a new Bugatti, what’s another few dollars to spend the car manufacturer another two years creating the perfect paint job that really sets your car apart from all the others?
This is the Bugatti Divo ‘Lady Bug’ – a unique task for a single customer according to a press release. With a starting price of about $ 6 million for the Divo itself, it is not clear what the final price of the Lady Bug was. But what is clear is that the car is beautiful.
About 1600 diamond shapes form the pattern. Each one has been checked and re-adjusted so that it fits perfectly.

Bugatti recently created a custom, unique Divo for a customer, nicknamed Divo ‘Lady Bug’.
This is one of the 40 examples of the Divo that Bugatti will ever build.
The Divo wears a rich red coat of paint and a diamond pattern that took about two years to complete.
The American customer wanted a diamond-shaped geometric pattern.
They also wanted the car in contrasting “Customer Special Red” and “Graphite” metallic paint.
It was a very difficult task to apply the diamond patterns on the car.
Due to the fact that the Divo has many surface contours, the 2D printed diamond pattern looked ‘twisted’ when first applied to the car.
“Due to the nature of the project, where a 2D graphic was applied to a 3D sculpture, and after numerous failed ideas and attempts to apply the diamonds, we were close to giving up and saying, ‘We can not meet customer’s request ‘. “Jörg Grumer, Bugatti’s head of color and decoration, said.
What the team finally did was to use a transfer film and stick the approximately 1,600 diamonds on the body and make the necessary adjustments.
After being painted, each diamond was removed and the car was repainted to erase imperfections.
It took just over two weeks to complete that part of the job. But here is the result.
The colors fade smoothly into each other.
On closer inspection, you can greatly appreciate the complexity of the work.
Each diamond looks slightly different from the next.
You can watch this thing almost all day.
From afar, the pattern creates a cool gradient.
The Divo uses an 8.0-liter W12 engine that produces almost 1500 horsepower.
It has a limited top speed of about 236 km / h.
All Divos are built at Bugatti’s headquarters in Molsheim, France.
Deliveries began in August 2020.
All Divos are spoken for and will be delivered this year.
It is not clear how much the Divo ‘Lady Bug’ costs.
But a regular starting price of $ 6 million from Divo should give you an idea.
