Chris Godwin saw it coming, and it came true Tuesday.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers place the franchise label on the receiver, Tom Pelissero, NFL Network, reported.
Godwin will stay with defending Super Bowl champion Bucs in Tampa, in a move that makes the most sense to keep the team’s top goalscorers Tom Brady intact. Tampa could still enter into a long-term agreement with Godwin, which could eventually be recharged to remove financial pressure from the team’s immediate situation, but the label ensures that in 2021 Godwin will not land anywhere else.
As he said last month, Godwin is good with such an outcome, because winning makes him happy – and a projected number of $ 15,808 million does no harm either.
“I’m not going to put myself in a situation where I’m going to be miserable for a few more years for a few extra dollars,” Godwin said. “I think my luck is of the utmost importance in all of this, and part of the luck is to win.”
