Bryan, Texas, shooting: 27-year-old suspect charged with murder is related to $ 1 million

BRYAN, Texas – A man accused of setting fire to a cabinet factory in Texas where he worked on Thursday, killing one person and wounding five others before shooting and wounding a state troop, has been identified as 27-year-old Larry Bollin.

According to the Bryan police station, Bollin has since been charged with murder and is being held on a $ 1 million bond.

Bryan police chief Eric Buske told reporters he believes Bollin is an employee at the Kent Moore Cabinets location where the shooting took place. He said investigators believe Bollin was solely responsible for the attack, which took place around 2.30pm, and that he was gone when officers arrived there.

Four of the five people injured at the business were hospitalized in critical condition, authorities said. During the hunt for Bollin, he shot and wounded a state troop, which was hospitalized in a serious but stable condition, the Texas Department of Public Safety said on Twitter.

“We would like to thank the hospital and the doctors and nurses who have just given him phenomenal care,” said DPS spokesman, lt. Craig Cummings, said during an evening update.

The troop was not immediately identified.

Don Sowell, sheriff in Grimes County, said Bollin was arrested about two hours after the attack in Bedias, a small community about 40 miles northeast of Bryan.

Bryan is located in the shadow of Texas A&M University and about 100 miles northwest of Houston. With more than 86,000 inhabitants, it is the seat of Brazos County.

Investigators are still trying to determine the motive for the attack, authorities said.

The bureau for alcohol, tobacco, firearms and explosives sent agents and dogs to the shooting site, spokesman Deon Washington said. Police asked people to stay away from the business during the investigation.

The company, which makes custom cabinets, has design centers in nearly a dozen cities in Texas and employs more than 600 people, according to its website.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has prayed for the shooting of victims and their families.

‘I’ve worked closely with the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Texas Rangers as they help local law enforcement with a quick response to this criminal act. Their efforts led to the arrest of the shooting suspect. ‘

Kent Moore Cabinets also offered his prayers with the following statement:

“Our hearts are hurting.

We are all devastated by the tragic events Thursday at our Stone City factory in Bryan. We think of our workers and their families, and we ask that you be with us to keep everyone in your mind (and prayers) touched by this tragedy.

We are fully cooperating with the police investigating this horrific crime. We are grateful that law enforcement has responded so quickly and appreciate the critical medical care paramedics have provided to our colleagues.

Our focus now is on our employees and their families during this most difficult time, and we hope you understand that we are unable to respond to your comments. Your concern and kind words are sincerely appreciated. ‘

Investigators said the names of the victims would be released on Friday, April 9.
