One of the most attractive free agencies on the market once the signing period begins on March 17 is Lavonte David. The fast-paced, clever Buccaneers linebacker believes he has many suitors after his prominent role in helping Tampa Bay win Super Bowl LV.
And according to a report by Mary Kay Cabot of cleveland.com, the Cleveland Browns will be one of the teams chasing David. Cabot notes that sources told her that Browns would have an interest in David as the team’s biggest goal in free agencies.
David will not come cheap. The 31-year-old has scored at least 100 tackles in eight of his nine NFL seasons, all in Tampa Bay. David had 117 tackles in 2020, one INT, one sack, three focal points, 12 tackles for loss and six PDs.
However, there is a strong free market in linebacker. The Browns did not prioritize spending the position under GM Andrew Berry. But by adding speed and versatility to the position that a great outdoor need is needed, David might attract the Browns’ serious interest.
