Broncos agree with CB Ronald Darby

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. – The Broncos reportedly added a veteran backline to their defensive backfield.

According to a report by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Broncos agreed to negotiate a three-year deal with Ronald Darby.

The move can only be made official before free agency starts at 14:00 on Wednesday 17 March.

A former draft pick for the second round by the Bills in 2015, Darby spent the 2020 season with the Washington Football Team. During his solo season in Washington, he started 16 games and defended 16 fights and scored 55 tackles for the NFC East champion. His 16 passes defended fifth place in the league in 2020, and Washington’s defense is second against the pass.

Before arriving in Washington, the 5-foot-11, 193-pound corner line spent 2017-2019 with the Eagles, where he started 27 of a possible 48 games over three seasons. He was a part-time starter in 2017 in the team’s Super Bowl championship team. Darby scored six total interceptions and defended 32 passes during his time at the Eagles.

Darby began his career in Buffalo, where he started 29 games during his first two seasons in the league, scoring two interceptions and defending 33 passes. After a strong rookie campaign in 2015, he was named the NFL All-Rookie Team.

Darby along with Bryce Callahan and Michael Ojemudia will be some of the top options in Denver’s corner kick corps.

Darby is the first player from another team to be linked with the Broncos during the NFL’s legal tampering, which began Monday at 10:00 MT.

Earlier Monday, the Broncos agreed to agree with defensive line Shelby Harris on a new three-year deal.
