Britt Reid: The five-year-old who was injured in a car accident involving the former Kansas City Chiefs assistant coach is awake

The child was admitted to hospital in a critical condition with a brain injury after the accident.

According to reports, Britt Reid is no longer employed by Kansas City Chiefs

CNN contacted Kansas City police for more information.

Reid, the son of Chiefs’ head coach Andy Reid, has been placed on administrative leave after being involved in a multiple-vehicle crash earlier this month. Last week, reports by ESPN and the NFL Network revealed that he was no longer employed by the team.

League sources told ESPN and the NFL Network that the 35-year-old’s contract expired after the team lost in Super Bowl LV.

In a previous statement following the crash, the Chiefs said they were gathering information about the incident and that they would “assist local plans as requested.”

“Our focus remains on (the girl) and her family. We have reached out to the family to offer our support and resources during this difficult time, and we will continue to pray for her recovery,” the Chiefs said earlier.
