Britney Spears’ fans are in a frenzy these days about her conservatory, but her ex-husband Kevin Federline’s lawyer feels differently.
Although Spears’ conservatory has been a controversial point for some time, interest in the case has been renewed after the documentary “Framing Britney Spears” aired on FX and Hulu earlier this month.
Supporters of the #FreeBritney movement are demanding that the star be released from her legal guardianship, claiming that her father Jamie, who serves as co-conservator, was oppressive and even shied away from her fortune – he denied such rumors .
The court ruled Thursday that Jamie will remain co-custodian over his daughter’s estate with Bessemer Trust Co., a decision that Federline’s family lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, appears to be thinking strongly about.

‘I think there are many different layers of protection for Britney Spears as a Conservative, and I do not think anyone should worry that it is being abused in any way for persons in control of a conflict of interest …’, Kaplan told Fox Television Stations. “I do not think it is valid – it is worrying, but I do not think it is one that is in fact grounded.”

Spears, now 39, was placed under the conservatory more than a decade ago after her public downfall, and recently said she chose to quit her executive career until she was released from guardianship.
“Before the conservatory was placed over Mrs Spears, her finances were in a terrible state of disarray, there were several lawsuits surrounding breaches of contract and things like that, and now based on what I saw in the press, her estate is north of $ 50, $ 60 million, so from the point of view, it seems to me that the conservatism has benefited her financially in this regard, ‘Kaplan argued.’ The consideration of how it affects her personal freedom or creativity, I can not talk about it. ‘
Business Insider reported in December 2020 that the pop star’s net worth was approximately $ 59 million. She has not been performing live since 2018 and in the following year she is going to a mental health institution.

The lawyer noted that Federline “does not express an opinion” on the legal situation of his ex-wife “and that he has no desire to get involved on the side.”
“The only thing he considered was whether the existence of the conservatory increased the boys’ ability to be in a safe and structured environment when they were with their mother, and we have no reason to believe that it is not a beneficial factor in that decision, ”Kaplan added.
Federline and Spears share two sons: Sean Preston (15) and Jayden James (14). They share 70% of their time with their father and the rest with Spears, although they adjusted the number ‘voluntarily’, giving Federline more time with the boys.

According to Kaplan, the kids are doing “really well, and Kevin enjoys watching them become young men.”

In addition, he said if the conservatory is terminated, he will “probably take a more careful eye to make sure everything is stable and structured there when the boys go to see their mother.”
Spears is reportedly afraid of her own father and earlier requested that he not be her only conservator again, after a brief recess in which he received medical treatment.

“I know there was apparently unrest with Britney and her father, and his role has changed somewhat, but it’s an internal matter between them,” Federline’s lawyer said.
