Over the years, much has been written and released from Britney Spears, from a book telling her mother, to a number of unauthorized documentaries exploring everything from her rise to fame, to her sudden fall and many published personal and professional setbacks.

Now a new documentary is aimed at revealing the latest developments in her legal battles, namely the conservatory she’s been to since 2008. Framed by Britney Spears is part of The New York Times presents series of investigation documents. The program’s delivery addresses the legal challenges Spears faced with the conservatory – which has been controlled almost entirely by her father, Jamie Spears, since the beginning, as well as the growing #FreeBritney movement of fans who believe the singer is unfairly “imprisoned” by her family and management team.

Framed by Britney Spears: What to Expect, Spoil, Reveal

According to a release promoting the documentary, Framed by Britney Spears promises a “re-examination of her career and a new assessment of the movement summed up by her court against her conservatory, and the unpleasant dimensions of the American pop star machine.”

The documentary examines the legal basis for a conservatory, as well as the requirements that both Spears – and her judge-appointed guardian (s) must meet. Jamie Spears was his daughter’s curator until the fall of 2019 when he retired due to health issues. He is now back as co-conservator with the Bessemer Trust Company, of which Britney was allegedly nominated himself.

The new documentary features interviews with those who were previously in the singer’s inner circle, including Felicia Culotta, a family friend who was Spears’ personal assistant. The producers are also interviewing a lawyer who once worked at Spears’ conservatory and talking to the growing legion of supporters behind the #FreeBritney movement.

Spears, who has not acted since his Las Vegas stay in 2019 was canceled, has not publicly commented on the release of the new documentary, and does not appear in Framed by Britney Spears. It is noteworthy that no one in her camp even talked about the doctor or refuted any of his allegations.
