Hot on the heels of news that Netflix’s era is a phenomenon Bridgerton officially renewed, creator Chris Van Dusen confirms that season 2 will be takes a literal and figurative page from Julia Quinn’s second book and focuses on Lord Anthony Bridgerton’s search for a bride.
‘We’re really going to be [focusing on] the oldest Bridgerton brother next season, Lord Anthony Bridgerton, played by Jonathan Bailey, ”Van Dusen said on Thursday at the Today Show. “We left him at a crossroads at the end of the first season, and I’m looking forward to jumping in and discovering how he’s doing in the marriage market.”
He’s apparently going to do well since Van Dusen went on to say that the series will introduce a bunch of new characters in season 2, including a new ‘love interest’ for the married Lord Anthony. The EP remained confident that this new love story would be just as “sweeping and touching and beautiful” as the first romance between Season 1 between Simon and Rego-Jean Page, and Daphne of Phoebe Dynevor.
Speaking of the Duke and Duchess of Hastings, Van Dusen would not confirm whether Page and Dynevor will return for season 2. “I hope so,” he entrenched. “They are the Duke and Duchess now, but I think they will always be Bridgertons, and I think they will always be part of the show.”
