If you’ve ever hoped to return to the 19th century Regency era, where the characters of ‘Bridgerton’ live in luxurious luxury, consider this $ 9.8 million castle in Connecticut.
The Freestone Castle, a century ago in 1913, was built in the heart of Greenwich and has 11 bedrooms and 15 bathrooms.
Architect James C. Green first built the house for a descendant of the Revolutionary War, General Israel Putnam. The estate has undergone several modern interior renovations, but the historic structure remains.
The castle, which consists of brick and stone, has an area of 20,298 square meters.
It was last sold in 2017 for $ 5.5 million.
The main house has eight bedrooms, and the staff quarters and coach house have three bedrooms.
‘It was separated into a few different sections. At the time, people lived with their servants, so it was designed for that kind of lifestyle, ”Danielle Claroni, the property’s co-listing agent, told the broker.
‘When you think of a castle, you think of small rooms and spaces of the dungeon, but these are spacious open rooms with lots of light – nice big, bright rooms with high ceilings. It’s really beautiful, ”Claroni adds.

As the castle and the surrounding gardens have historical names, local approval must be obtained for any changes. But Claroni says there are really no updates needed.
