Breath of the Wild fans try to get Sidon up as fast as possible

Every month, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild speedruns get a little stranger. For example, today we ran through a new category titled ‘mount%’, in which runners try to drive every animal in the game. It includes standard creatures, such as horses, but it also contains everyone’s favorite shark rabbit, Sidon. After all, you ride Sidon during a boss part of the open-world adventure, so technical that he also qualifies here.

This hilarious concept was developed by the extraordinary Jew, who had previously made headlines about things like completing BOTW at 100% – without harm. Yedun explained in an email that it was initially seen as a Sidon-only challenge that popped into his head as he tackled the harmless run. But he said it soon became clear that the only way to make it an official category recognized by the community was to work out rules. It wasn’t long before he decided to include every type of mountain, just to make things more interesting.

What’s cool about this speedrun category is that from this writing, it’s the only thing that requires fans to do something with the Lord of the Mountain. The ethereal snow-white mountain appears only in extremely specific circumstances – once on the day of a washing crescent moon. To make it work, Judah had to figure out exactly what was going on under the hood. It can appear within 24 hours of the game at any time, and only if you are not completely in the Satori mountain region, says Yedun.

“It also appears that the length of time it spends is arbitrary,” he said. Therefore, casual players will see the pesky horse being disfigured almost immediately after seeing it. It is also the biggest ‘pain in the ass’ while running for this exact reason, he said during the video.

As an added bonus, the release to the public of the run is commemorated with a friendly competition. Whoever achieves the fastest mountain time by May 6 will win $ 100, but the second and third place will also receive cash for their problems. Even better, the announcement video features an outline of the current route developed by speedsters for the category, meaning that anyone tackling it will not start over. This of course includes a whole section to ride Sidon, the star attraction.

So far, Judun has been able to complete the run in just under an hour, but hopefully others will be able to shave that time off soon enough.
