BREAK: Disney MagicMobile service comes to Walt Disney World Resort, allowing guests to enter parks with phones and other mobile devices.

As promised when Disney announced that the complimentary MagicBands for guests in hotel resorts will die, Disney will soon have a new option for access to the theme park and much more: Disney MagicMobile service.

Disney MagicMobile service, which launches later this year, is an easy and contactless way to access MagicBand features, such as accessing the theme park through your iPhone, Apple Watch or other smart device. Guests can create a Disney MagicMobile pass through the My Disney Experience app and add it to the digital wallet of their smartphone. Most features are available by simply holding your smart device near an access point, just like with a MagicBand. Disney MagicMobile service and its features are first introduced on Apple devices.

Guests can choose to use the Disney MagicMobile service or a MagicBand. Guests can even use both and alternate between the two for extra flexibility.

Disney has made it clear that they will not discontinue MagicBands, as they have said they will soon be launching more MagicBands in new colors and designs featuring favorite Disney characters and stories.

The existing digital room keys feature will continue to be specifically available in the My Disney Experience app, which helps guests speed up their arrival by using the online check-in service, going directly to their Disney Resort hotel room and using their phone to by unlocking.

Disney Resort hotel guests can also still pick up a key to the world map when they visit the front desk. The design has been changed recently as more guests are expected to use it now.
