At least one person was killed and up to six people were injured in a shooting at a hotel in Bloomingdale, Illinois.

Police responded to the 5th floor of the Indian Lakes Resort at 2:35 a.m. Saturday morning, Fox 32 Chicago reported.

Some of the victims were at the scene, while others were admitted to hospital.

It is believed that several people occupied one or two rooms. No one is in custody and police believe suspects may have fled the scene.

A SWAT team was also on the scene and secured the rooms, reports say.

According to ABC 7, Frank Giammarese, director of public safety in Bloomingdale, said the person killed was a man in his twenties.
