Brave Default 2: Salve-Maker Guide

In the nature of the gambler, the Ointment maker is an optional task that you can find in Brave default 2, but no less useful than all the others you will find throughout the story. In fact, it’s an excellent Job type job, much like the Oracle we discussed in our previous guide. Unlike them, however, Salve makers do not love the game. They prefer to use the player’s consumables within the inventory. Let’s talk about this and more in our Salve-Maker guide.

Salve-Maker guide and overview

Salve Makers is the only Job in the game that specifically uses the items collected from your adventure, or whatever you have purchased in the store. Their composing skill is their distinctive ability, which allows your character to select and mix a few items to create one, stronger object to use in battle, be it a healing object or a projectile to deal damage and other effects to direct.

Salve-Maker Overview

As you might think, if you decide to use a Salve Maker, you need to build up better drinks and eaters, as you will need a lot of them. Their gimmick is to put these items together into better versions of it, leading to absurd healing and support in the course of a battle. I called healing because that’s what it’s best for. They can offer the same amount of sore healing as a White Mage, with the right passives and their unique specialties. Advanced Compounding allows you to merge three items instead of two, which further enhances this item merging feature.

While Compounding should be the main reason why you want to use a Salve-Maker, do not let it distract you from the rest of their very handy kit. They have a great passive ability, and Thrust and Parry are one of the best, if not the best, defensive skills in the game if you use double, reducing the total damage you receive by 50%. Any character in your party who functions twice must have this ability to be able to equip all the time. By doing so, you will realize that you can wear much lighter armor, with greater effects than heavy armor tends to have, but has the same defensive prowess.

Salve makers are chock full of handy abilities. Almost every one of them has its usefulness, and all they need to adapt it is what you need most in your team. If you decide to use a White Mage as a sub-job, which suits them very well, you need to enable their 2nd Specialization through passives such as the Bravebearer’s Sub-Job Specialty 2 passive skill. This allows them to use Advanced Compounding for the entire team. This means that you can use Elixirs and their upgraded versions for the whole party, which will replenish their HP and MP. If it’s not something tempting, I do not know. If you decide to go the more insulting way, make sure the Thief’s Attack Item Amp ability is equipped, as it is mandatory to inflict significantly more damage on items.

There is no shortage of Job combinations you can do with a Salve Maker. Easily one of the most versatile Jobs in the game, and with efficiency that never drops until the late post-match, this class is one of my personal favorites. The usefulness they bring to a fight is undeniably great, and I would recommend unlocking them as soon as possible, which is at the beginning of chapter 3.

As this Salve-Maker Guide comes to an end, we will finally look at the Job stars owned by the generals of Holograd, beginning with the impenetrable Bastion.

Brave standard 2 is available exclusively on the Nintendo Switch.
