A video taken by a Border Patrol officer and now circulating on social media shows a young boy with tears streaming down his face, apparently alone in the Texas desert along the border between America and Mexico has been abandoned.
“I came with a group, they threw me away and I do not know where they are,” the minor told a motorist in the area between sobs. “They can rob me, kidnap me. I’m scared, ‘the boy told a border patrol officer he encountered. The boy was seen in the video walking down an empty dirt road.
The child, who is believed to be between 10 and 12 years old, was taken to a nearby border patrol station. According to Univision, he spent the night in the desert, full of rattlesnakes and wild animals.
“To all parents who are considering sending their unaccompanied children to the border, you should reconsider because it is very dangerous to expose children,” Gloria Chávez, head of the border patrol sector in El Paso, Texas, told Univision said in response to the minor’s case.

Border Patrol announced Tuesday that it has rescued two small children who were abandoned near Jacumba, California. Agents said they saw a man and woman walking with two small children. Agents saw the couple hoisting the children over large boulders in an area where the boundary wall ends.
They came to the area to locate the children aged 5 and 6 years alone and crying and took them to a nearby border patrol station. The children had a handwritten note with their mother’s phone number. The mother’s name and number were also written on their forearms. CBP called the mother for more information and transported the children to Health and Human Services (HHS).

“It is unscrupulous that anyone will abandon these little children and those responsible for smuggling of events like this will be aggressively prosecuted,” Aaron Heitke, chief patrol agent, said in a statement.
Last week, a shocking video showed a 5-year-old and a 3-year-old being smuggled across a border barrier by smugglers on the border with New Mexico.
As of last week, there were nearly 5,000 children in border guards and more than 13,000 in health care and human services.
