A JetBlue Airways passenger could face fines of up to $ 14,500 from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for refusing to wear a mask, drink his own alcohol and other disruptive behavior on a flight last year. reported AP.

The passenger was unbearable to the point where the December 23 flight flying from New York to the Dominican Republic had to turn around, Bloomberg reported.

The FAA said in a press release that the unidentified passenger displaced the passenger sitting next to him and started talking loudly. He also drank alcohol he brought on board, even though it was against federal regulations.

The agency said the man ignored several requests from flight attendants to cover a face.

Such conduct on JetBlue flights is considered unacceptable as the policy complies with federal law and face cover on flights is mandatory due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The FAA’s press release reads: ” A flight attendant gave the passenger a notice to stop illegal and offensive behavior, and the cabin crew notified the captain two separate times. ‘and returned to JFK, where the plane landed 4,000 pounds overweight due to the amount of fuel on board. ‘

According to police, police were waiting at the airport to escort the man off the plane.

The FAA said the passenger had 30 days to respond to the enforcement done against him.
