Boeing 737 slides off runway shortly after takeoff

An Indonesian cargo plane that returned to base shortly after takeoff due to a technical problem slipped off the runway when it landed at an airport in Jakarta, the aviation operator said.

Trigana Air’s Boeing 737-400 returned to Halim Perdanakusumah Airport about two minutes after takeoff on Saturday, AirNav spokesman Yohanes Harry Douglas Sirait said.

Several flights were diverted to Soekarno Hatta Airport in Banten, West Java, as the plane blocked runways.

The plane would fly, according to Makassar, South Sulawesi. The national transport safety committee, according to Sirait, has begun an investigation into the incident.
