Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health presents the manifesto ‘Challenges of sail XXI in prevention, welfare and animal health’. An analysis work, available in digital and print format, that recalls the major issues to be addressed in prevention, welfare and animal welfare to guarantee global health worldwide. In addition, the initiative pretends to focus the debate on the One Health issue.

According to Elena Gratacós, managing director of Boehringer animal Health España, “our company compromise is with animals and with veterinarians, both in clinics such as pigs, with mascot owners and with society in general. In this sense, we want to contribute in a decisive way to innovate and advance in the solution of the problems that we face as a society in animal and human health ”.

The manifesto is the result of an in-depth analysis carried out at a moment of special market relevance to the sanitary crisis caused by the new coronavirus SARS-CoV-2. The work has been elaborated by a group of specialist specialists formed by Cristina Muñoz Madero, Joaquim Segalés Coma, José Manuel Sánchez-Vizcaíno Rodríguez, Luis Ortega Mora, Luis Miguel Cebrián Yagüe and Pol Llonch Obiols.

Asimismo, the manifesto is related to the prologue collaboration of an expert in international recognition of prestige in the concept of One Health: the doctor Jonna AK Mazet.

The objective of this initiative is to serve as a basis for launching march initiatives, mediations and compromises at the institutional and administrative level “which contribute to the livelihoods of animals and humans in a more peaceful world in this XXI cycle”, with the conviction of that only from a One Health perspective would it be possible to advance “have a global advanced and preventive sanitation attention”.

The publication is structured in six separate sections in which the most pressing issues related to the collaboration between veterinarians and physicians to prevent zoonosis, the vigilance systems for the early detection of envirmedades, the vacunacology and the use in the Antibiotics and the papyrus clave of veterinary medicine in the development of the One Health approach in public health policies.
