SumOfUs moored the 30-foot boat with a banner that featured “Twitter: Ban Trump” as part of its campaign urging Twitter and Facebook to fight Trump online. A petition has also already been signed by 70,000 people demanding that the platforms permanently ban Trump.
“Donald Trump has a proven track record of using social media to post and reinforce malicious disinformation – from Covid’s lies to baseless allegations of electoral fraud, as well as his incitement to violence,” said Emma Ruby-Sachs, executive director of SumOfUS, said. in a press release shared with Insider. “He’s another serious example of Big Tech’s love affair with extremism and violence. They should banish him for good and then correct the algorithms that made this terrorist movement grow.”
Twitter did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Trump has spread unsubstantiated allegations that the 2020 presidential election was stolen from him, sparking the anger of many of his supporters, including those who attended a rally at the U.S. Capitol, hours before some stormed the federal building and his halls vandalized.
