BMW driver dies after car plows at the bus stop in Lauderhill

LAUDERHILL, Fla. Authorities are investigating a fatal car crash in Lauderhill on Monday morning.

The accident was reported around 1:30 a.m. in the vicinity of Northwest 16th Street and North State Road 7.

According to Lauderhill police officer Lieutenant Michael Santiago, officers arrived at the scene to find two vehicles with major damage.

He said detectives believed a BMW involved in the collision was driving fast on North Road on State Road 7, while a Mercedes-Benz was heading south before trying to make a left turn to northwest on 16th Street. to go.

When the Mercedes turned left, the two vehicles collided and the BMW collided at a nearby bus stop, Santiago said.

The driver of the BMW was taken to Broward Health Medical Center, where he died.

The driver of the Mercedes was not injured and is working together on the investigation, Santiago said.

Santiago said North State Road 7 and Northwest 16th Street remain closed while investigators process the scene. Drivers are being asked to use Northwest 31st Avenue as an alternative route for the time being.
