BMC cancels vaccine appointments for those who have leaked a link

Boston Medical Center has canceled the COVID-19 vaccine appointments for people who have entered through a publicly scheduled scheduling system.

The system was a pilot for BMC volunteers to schedule appointments for patients in Boston communities disproportionately affected by the virus, a Boston.com spokesman said.

The link to the system was “inappropriately shared on social media,” the spokesman said. It was leaked late last month in a post on a subreddit dedicated to coronavirus news. The link’s URL, called ‘Community COVID Vaccination Schedule’, now refers to a vaccination site page.

“This was the link for priority partners such as non-profit centers and community health centers to discuss appointments for patients and was not intended to be distributed,” a Reddit user wrote in the report.

‘In short, the link posted here was not a lot of random for non-profit organizations and community groups trying to discuss people at high risk. [Redditors] who do not want to wait their turn, ”wrote another user.

“I know, [because I] work with a non-profit organization [BMC], ”Wrote the user. ‘This link is not for the public and is closed [because] of this Reddit message. [BMC] discuss online for weeks with affiliated non-profit organizations, not with the general public. ”

Several Reddit and Twitter users shared texts from BMC on Sunday, saying their appointments on a “unsupported link” had been booked and canceled.

The BMC spokesman said the falsely scheduled appointments for Saturday were still being honored. It is not clear how many appointments have been canceled and how many have been complied with.
