Blue Jackets about to trade a disgruntled center – The Athletic

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Pierre-Luc Dubois has taken just five games and a last-ditch effort with coach John Tortorella to achieve his wish.

The Blue Jackets are on the verge of losing their disgruntled no. 1-center trade, sources told The Athletic late Friday, a deal likely to be finalized this weekend, perhaps soon.

The Winnipeg Jets are apparently the forerunner for Dubois, according to Darren Dreger of TSN, but the Anaheim Ducks, Montreal Canadiens and maybe one more club are also in the mix.

The Blue Jackets have informed Dubois that he will be a healthy scraper for Saturday’s game at 14:00 against Tampa Bay at the Nationwide Arena, provided he is still on the standings. This move is not punishment after its protracted benchmark Thursday, but rather over asset protection.

Dubois almost played his last game for the Blue Jackets.
