Bloomberg: The Next Generation MacBook Pro Offers Enhanced Screens, Faster Loading by MagSafe

Following today’s report by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo outlining key changes for the next generation MacBook Pro models coming in the third quarter of this year, Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman weighed in with his own report confirming the details, but apparently differing slightly from others.

First, Gurman shares more details about the return of MagSafe charging to the MacBook Pro, suggesting that it will indeed be a similar design as the previous incarnation of ‘MagSafe’ on Mac notebooks. Gurman also says that the move back to dedicated ‘MagSafe’ charging is enabling faster loading speeds.

Gurman says the new MacBook Pro models will unexpectedly still support USB-C two USB-C ports next to the agMagSafe‌ port, and presumably two more USB-C ports on the other side of the machine.

BloombergA report also offers some goodies about the displays on the upcoming MacBook Pro models, indicating that they will use ‘brighter panels with a higher contrast’. Of course, the machines will also be equipped with Apple silicone chips that offer more processing core and improved graphics, compared to the M1 found in the first series of Apple silicone Macs.

As for the design of the new MacBook Pro models, Kuo indicated that they would receive a redesign of the iPhone 12 style with flat edges, but Gurman seems to be diminishing the significance of any changes, suggesting that it ‘similar ‘will look like the current models but with “minor design changes.”

Gurman also says that Apple ‘tested’ versions of the MacBook Pro without the Touch Bar, while Kuo more definitively looks like the controversial feature will be removed in the final design.

Finally, Gurman notes that Apple is also planning a redesign for the MacBook Air, but it will only start “long after” the new MacBook Pro models.
