Blake Shelton has been through a lot, including a Grammy-nominated singer and a coach on NBC’s ‘The Voice’. He plans to add ‘stepfather’ to his list of titles.
In an interview with KFROG’s ‘The Ride with Kimo & Heather’, the landlord, who is engaged to Gwen Stefani, opened up about his relationship with the children of his fiancée and shared his feelings about becoming their stepfather.
“There is definitely nothing easy about it,” said Shelton, whose fiancé shares sons Kingston (14), Zuma (12) and Apollo (6) with her ex-husband Gavin Rossdale.
The singer also has a stepfather and calls him ‘one of my heroes’.
“I love my stepfather, and I looked up to him, and he’s like a father to me, so I have a good inspiration in my life for how I can do that and the kind of stepfather I want to be, he said.
Although Shelton said he took the responsibility of being a father figure ‘very seriously’, he added that he also had fun with the experience.
“I like it too, I’m not going to lie,” he said. “I do not take it so seriously that I do not enjoy this time, because it really is me, especially now that we are five years into this thing. I can not imagine my life without these children now.”
This is not the first time Shelton has openly become a role model. During a ‘Today’ interview in July 2020, Hoda Kotb asked him about a Father’s Day Instagram post from Stefani, in which she thanked Shelton for ‘helping me’ raise these boys !! ‘
“It’s a tight moment for me, because it’s one thing for me to be with the kids all the time and be their partner,” he said. “But then you have to consider after a while to start listening to things you say, and there is a lot of responsibility involved, which is new to me.”
Shelton tweeted the news of his engagement to Stefani in October 2020 and wrote: “Hey @gwenstefani thank you for saving me 2020 … And the rest of my life .. I love you. I heard a YES ! ” During a “On air with Ryan Seacrest” Stefani said in the interview in December that the plans for their marriage terms were still in the air due to COVID-19.

“Even if you just reduce it to family, it’s still too many people for COVID, so we’ll see what happens in the next few months,” she said.
The two have been a couple for about five years and came together after Shelton divorced Miranda Lambert. This will be Shelton’s third marriage. His first wife was Kaynette Williams.

Shelton and Stefani got to know each other while working on NBC’s “The Voice.” In a 2017 interview on NBC’s “Today,” Shelton admitted that many fans were surprised when they became a couple.
“I think it’s so hard for people’s defense to turn their heads why Gwen wants to be with me,” he said. “I do not blame them.”
