Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War players have had major issues with crashes on Xbox Series X, but it looks like a poster on Reddit may have discovered a solution. According to user EmadBella, the crashes can be predicted through issues starting at the beginning of a match, as well as the controller rumbling not working. According to the poster, players can prevent the game from crashing, by pressing the Home button on the controller until the system’s shutdown prompt appears. Players must then press the “B” button to return to the game, and must then note that the framerate problems and rumble are back to normal. As a result, no accident will be experienced!

Solution to Cold War Accidents on Xbox Series X from r / XboxSeriesX
In the comments on the post, several users agree that this tactic seems to solve the problem, and prevent the game from crashing. The whole repair should take at most a few seconds, and it should be at least worth it for anyone who starts having problems when a match starts. Clearly, this is still not an ideal solution, and that players do not have to make these efforts, but until Activision and Treyarch come up with a permanent solution, it can be a big help! To his credit, Treyarch is well aware of the issues surrounding the game on the Xbox Series X hardware, and seems to be working hard to come up with a solution.
The accidents on Xbox Series X have been well known since the game was released in November. One Reddit poster claims that the problem was so severe that it actually broke their Xbox Series X console. If this solution works as well as posters claiming it does work, it can be a big sigh of relief for players who are worried about sending their systems back to Microsoft for repair!
