Black Ops Cold War Jumps • • Eurogamer.net

Treyarch crashed the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War leap.

Jumping – one of the more advanced tactics of Call of Duty competitive multiplayer – is done by players to make it harder for them to shoot, or to make them more likely to be shot under the head and thus inflict less damage, while they also shoot themselves. You tend to see players jumping around the corner when they suspect an enemy is waiting for them.

In the Call of Duty community, there has always been a debate about leapfrogging, with some saying it has no place in the series, and others saying it favors the skills gap.

Treyarch made the change to Black Ops Cold War’s move on February 4, along with its major mid-season update, without revealing the adjustment in the patch notes. However, it did not take long for players to pick it up, and the developer confirmed the change in the follow-up notes last night.

Treyarch said the patch added a small speeding penalty and jump height fine after landing from a jump. Pre-patch, after a spring-shot you can continue your movement, get up quickly fast to shoot further while facing, or even for another jump / slide combination (bunny-hopping) .

Once your feet fall to the ground, you are locked in place for a short time so that you can not shoot any further while aiming the sight for that short time.

It’s a subtle change, but it comes down to a considerable nervousness to jump, and certainly makes it a more risky tactic. The video of Call of Duty YouTuber below explains how it all works:

Treyarch said he will monitor this change to see how it goes, and will make further changes as needed.

Elsewhere, the Black Ops Cold War Prestige Shop now has Prestige icons from previous Call of Duty games, including Prestige Icons from Black Ops 3 Zombies, Black Ops 4 Zombies, and Blackout. Black Ops Cold War and Warzone are currently hosting a dual XP weekend.
