Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War gets a new advantage in its Zombies mode soon. The benefit is called ‘Tombstone Soda’, which will indeed be new to Black Ops Cold War and should also be a familiar name to those who played Black Ops II. The advantage pulls back in this game, but like some of the other Zombies features brought back, it is refreshing to have different effects compared to what players are used to.
Treyarch Studios confirmed the arrival of the benefit as part of the 115-day celebration this week. Tombstone Soda will be added on Feb. 4, Treyarch said. This is a new advantage that players might have picked up if they had paid attention to the previous teasers.

As mentioned before, this benefit will not have the same effects as the previous recurrence of Black Ops II. Instead, this advantage will allow players to enter a shadow form and a kind of redemption period where they again get a chance to revive themselves.
‘Unlike his first incarnation in Black Ops II“The new and improved Tombstone Soda will now transform the player into a shadow within the Dark Aether after being dropped,” Treyarch Studios said. ‘In this shadow form you will be equipped with weapons to give you a chance to revive yourself. However, if your health is reduced to zero in a shadow, you are dead.
Like other benefits, players can invest Aetherium Crystals in their purchase to further enhance Tombstone Soda after you have already purchased it. The effects of these upgrades can be found below:
Upgrading of tombstone soda
- Level I – Shadow shape can restore health.
- Level II – Increase the downward duration to 60 seconds.
- Level III – Drop at death a tombstone pile that saves your weapons, equipment, and resources.
This new benefit will of course be found on the Die Maschine card via the Der Wunderfizz machine, but you will also be able to get it from the new card that is also arriving. The card is called ‘Firebase Z’ and was announced just before the new benefit. This is the first post-launch card of its kind to be added to Zombies and will arrive on February 4, just like Tombstone Soda.
