Before you get to the actual Easter egg steps, it is worth noting that you need to perform some basic tasks first. As usual, the power and Pack-a-Punch must be turned on, and the Wonder weapon must be removed. You can get all the details in our RAI K-84 and Pack-a-Punch guide if you need them.
Second, for those who need video help with our text, check out this amazing guide from MrRoflWaffles on YouTube. If his job helps you, it does not hurt to sign up. Since these people were among the first to discover the steps, we also found that the Call of Duty Zombies subreddit thread also useful. If your description does not miss you at any stage, these additional sources will probably make our words a little clearer. Let’s start hunting with this indemnity.
Black Ops Cold War Firebase Z Easter Egg Steps
- Once the power, Pack-a-Punch and RAI K-84 are ready, talk to Ravanov in the Atrium area. He will send you to meet with dr. Peck, who is behind the large window in the Mission Control area, to speak. Peck sends you back to Ravanov, who finally hands you the Ravanov ID Badge item.
- The card is used to open three boxes. To get the first one, enter the courtyard and go to the storage room for equipment. It’s right across from Ravanov. You will find Compound S16 in the box with the keyboard on it.
- To go to the next box, go from the military command control room to the colonel’s office. You see another box next to the desktop. This one has compound P65.
- The third box is inside a building in the Engineering department. Compound 36 is inside.
- Go to the field hospital from the barracks. Use the Agent Delivery System machine next to the small computer to mix the chemicals you have collected.
- Once the machine starts spinning, a bunch of enemies will come in. Kill them, go back to the machine, and you can pick them up and take them with you.
- Bring it to the rooftop AC unit in the OPC area. You will know that you are in the right place when you get the option to “attach the Agent Delivery System.”
- Go back to Dr. Peck and talk to him.
- Go to the data center and communicate with the machine against the wall with a screen with a brain on it. Eventually, Peck will speak, and you will have the option to unlock the memory transfer station. It provides access to four Essence Traps.
- These Essence Traps function like Pokéballs in Pokémon. Your goal is to find three Mimic Zombies in specific locations, lower their health and capture them. Imitators spawn from objects. To find the zombie you are looking for, you must find areas with very small objects on the ground – but only one of them is a zombie. If that happens, you’ll know that one zombie is the one you have to kill. So far, players have been most fortunate to find Mimics in Peck’s Quarters in the Village, the Barracks Motor Pool and at the colonel’s office under military command. However, there are more possible places. Your goal is to catch a lone Mimic, return the trap to the machine and hope you get a quote from Sokolov, Brahms or Zabim. Do this three times and you are done with the step. If the memory is corrupt, you can try as many times as you want.
- Once all three correct Mimics are found, a floppy disk appears from the memory machine. Grab it. Travel from the OPC to the planning offices and throw it into the Quantum Main Frame machine with the brain on it.
- Go back to the OPC and you will see that a new portal area has been opened. Once you see it, talk to Peck. You will get a code that opens the box next to it. When you open it, the Aethermeter falls to the floor.
- The next step is to find three Aether containers on the map that can be done in any order. Grab the shovel found in the hut in the Scorched Defense Area to dig it up.
- Our first container can be found in the Jungle Defense area, where you will find lumps of dirt all around. Use the beep to find the excavation site. The faster it gets, the closer to the place. After digging it up, fight through the closing period that begins. Pick up the Aether container if it is safe.
- The next container is in the corner of the Open Lot area next to the OPC. You can use audio directions again to find it. A lot of containers will spawn. You need to find the one that does not contain black smoke. Once you find it, it’s the one you need to communicate with to collect it.
- For the last Aether Container, go to the Barracks area by the stairs that connect to the data center. Once you dig, the container will curve to different places if you get too close to it. To prevent this from happening, it fires with the RAI K-84’s alternative grenade fire mode. It will only remain silent while the grenade is active.
- Go to the three Aether reactors you used to turn on the power and place the containers there. It is found in the data center, mission control and military command.
- Navigate to OPC, then to Peck and you will see that he is no longer accessible. Go to the planning offices and use the computer there. On the screen you see a galactic map that can be controlled via the d-path. Scroll through all the bright spots (including the earth below) until you find one that has a “?” Show. Interact if you have found the right place.
- When everything is done, go back to the OPC and connect to the terminal on the right. This causes the boss fight, so make sure you are prepared.

Orda is your main target, but first kill the threats around them. Wait for your team to call out the exact time to do damage, then download everything you have until Orda’s health runs out. Fortunately, fringe benefits and Pack-a-Punch in the area should give you the extra firepower you need. That’s all you need to know about the Firebase Z Easter Egg in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.
