Black Myth: Wukong still has beautiful rat fights in his second trailer

It’s great as a single video of a game that no one has heard of from any business, of which the internet is paying attention to the internet at the same time. This is what happened to Black Myth: Wukong last year. This is a Soulslike tale of the Chinese fantasy epic Journey To The West, and it seems to contain many beautiful and dramatic battles in which you, a monkey, defeat anthropomorphic rats.

Now there’s a new trailer to prove it.

I’m not a player of Souls or anything like that, and that’s why I just like the art direction. Large, tentacle towers are surrounded by crows; ghostly shrines filled with carved wooden statues; rats in their underwear. It also looks like a technological marvel, with barely a blade of grass or a top knot on the rat’s head not shining in the wind.

Plus, what’s this thing with the eyes?

Ah, a nightmare.

The rest of the trailer shows some sensitive fights between the protagonist and a two-headed rat, and this is the kind of third-person elusive / blocking / stabbing I was hoping you would suggest from the “Soulslike” story in the first paragraph.

Black Myth: Wukong currently has no release date, and it looks like its official website is in Chinese only. However, you can read about Ed’s love for the rats of the game, or watch last year’s 13 minute game video below:
