Birthday: Nintendo Switch Launched Four Years Ago Today

Four years ago, on March 3, 2017, the Nintendo Switch was released for the first time in most regions worldwide.

With its monstrous sales records and incredible library of games, it’s not easy to remember how different things were before Nintendo’s arrival for Nintendo. We all know the story of Switch’s predecessor, the Wii U – and how it, despite a strong series of first parties, ended up disappointing in terms of third party sales and efforts – but it seems like Nintendo’s new console stuff completely turned around. it’s better that way.

Switch arrived in style in March 2017 and started with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – one of the best launch titles the world has ever seen, and according to critics one of the greatest games of all time. The system already had its killer app on day one, but its sales, success, and overall positivity have continued ever since.

As the console reaches the “middle of its life cycle”, Nintendo is confident it will surpass the Wii. With an upcoming list of games including The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD, Pokémon Legends: Arceus, Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, Monster Hunter Rise, Metroid Prime 4, Splatoon 3, and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2, we would certainly not be surprised if that were the case.
