Bindi Irwin and her husband Chandler Powell took a moment to reflect on 2020.
The young conservationists revealed on Wednesday that they were facing professional hardships while experiencing personal milestones.
In a long Instagram post, Irwin recalled the challenges her team faced when veld fires plagued parts of Australia last January.

“For us, this year was filled with enormous joy and heartbreaking loss. Our wildlife hospital was the busiest it has ever been due to the Australian forest fires raging across the country,” Irwin told her 469,000 followers. “We have worked hard to send support to the front lines of destruction. We have now treated more than 100,000 patients since our Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital opened.”

She also acknowledged that the coronavirus pandemic added some concern to her family’s zoo, which was due to celebrate its 50th anniversary on June 3, but had to be closed instead.

The zoo in Australia was closed to the public for 78 days due to the health crisis, which caused disaster due to the high cost of animal care in the zoo.
“Our pet food bills alone are about $ 80,000 a week and we have spent our days keeping our team and family of animals safe,” Irwin shared. “Every moment of every day burns the question in or in our minds.”

At the same time, however, there were some positive aspects that occurred in 2020.
Irwin, 22, married Powell, 24, on March 25. The couple untied the knot during a private and socially distant ceremony at the Australian Zoo.

“Now we are patiently waiting for our beautiful daughter to show up. She is the light of life,” Irwin wrote to her fans. “I hope it will bring some peace next year and that we will find a way to come together as a society. Remember to be kind to each other and find happiness even in the smallest things.”
Irwin is about 27 weeks pregnant from Sunday.

“2020 was filled with the highest and lowest lows. Just as easy as looking back at this year’s hardships, I choose to immerse myself in the highs,” Powell wrote. “I married my best friend, and our daughter will be joining us in a few months. It’s amazing to start as a husband and father from 2021. I’m ready for anything this year for us. envisage. “
