Billy Eichner responds to Colton Underwood as gay / Queerty

The old guy star Colton Underwood appeared in an interview with Robin Roberts yesterday Good morning America.

After that, many on social media shared a 2019 exchange between Billy Eichner and Underwood in which Eichner joked about the bachelor and former professional footballer being gay. In the clip, Underwood is lost for words on suggestion.

Many praised Eichner for his observation.

Eichner himself posted a series of tweets in response to Underwood’s release. The first shared his exchange with Underwood again and congratulated him.

‘I’m happy for @colton. If you’re gay, be gay! I was gay forever and I love it! ”

Eichner posted the same video clip and message on his Instagram. This gave rise to an answer from Underwood.

“Love you. Love this (now) and now I love being gay,” the new TV star said.

Shortly after the GMA interview aired, it appears that Underwood, 29, is already filming a Netflix documentary series about being gay. According to Variety, Gus Kenworthy will also be in the show and act as a kind of mentor or guide for Underwood.

Eichner then joked on Twitter that Underwood might be awarded because he came out: “Here’s how Hollywood works: Colton gets a GLAAD award before I do.”

Eichner later posted some more serious tweets on the issue of issuance. For the first time, he asked people to remember that not everyone finds it easy to reveal their true selves.

‘Pop culture sometimes makes it seem like every 14-year-old gay boy in the world is flying out of the closet without care. Some are. And that’s INCREDIBLE. But many are not. So let’s remember that, ”Eichner said.

‘AND let us also honor and praise those in the entertainment that have come out for years – DECADES – before it is accepted and can be used to professional advantage. I do not mean – I mean many others, especially those before me – who have really instilled courage. Let’s shine it too. ”

In response, some took the opportunity to name notable LGBTQ people who openly lived gay decades ago, including Ian McKellen, Sylvester, Ellen DeGeneres, and Paul Lynde.

Although many praised Underwood for coming out, others criticized him for appearing on not one, but three separately. Bachelor Nation seasons (2018’s The Bachelorette and Bachelor in Paradiseand 2019s The old guy).

Some also quickly pointed out that Cassie Randolph, an ex-girlfriend from Underwood, issued a restraining order against him last September after their split in May. Among several allegations, she said Underwood placed a tracking device in her car and harassed anonymous texts.

Randolph withdrew the restraining order in November. Underwood issued a statement at the time, saying: ‘Today, Cassie asked the court to dismiss the temporary restriction against me. The two of us were able to reach a private agreement to address Cassie’s concerns. I do not believe Cassie did anything wrong when she submitted the injunction and I also believe that she acted in good faith. ‘

In yesterday’s interview on GMA, Underwood again touched on his relationship with Randolph, saying: “I want to be sorry about how things ended. I got confused. I made a lot of bad choices.”

He also said he loved her: ‘It made it more confusing for me. I liked everything about her … I wish I would be brave enough to correct myself before I broke someone else. ‘

Randolph has not yet responded publicly to Underwood’s announcement.
