Bills in line with the extension of LB Matt Milano

GM Brandon Beane expressed serious concern last January that Milano wants to maximize its value in the open market and knows it could be difficult to keep him on their list. But pay tribute to Buffalo’s front office with the cleaning of the locker room needed to hold a critical play of their top seven in the foreseeable future.

“He’s a very good defensive player and you always want to keep as much as you can,” Beane said last January. “He has done such a great job since coming here to improve from 2017 to now.”

Milano has had the all-down linebackers in Buffalo’s defense each of the past three seasons with LB Tremaine Edmunds, a unit that has been lined up 90 percent of the time this season in a nickel defense.

“Man he’s making a difference,” Bills defense coordinator Leslie Frazier said last season. “He has done a wonderful job for us and his presence is felt on the field. Whether we put him under pressure or if he has had coverage, he is an important part of our success on defense.”

And this important part will continue to play Buffalo’s defense as his new contract lasts through the 2024 season.
