Bill Russell reminds people of achievements in the biggest debate ever

When Tom Brady won his seventh Super Bowl title on Sunday, the debate over who is the greatest athlete ever intensified.

The career performance of the Patriots spin-off Buccaneers career has been compared to Serena Williams, LeBron James and Tiger Woods, among others, over the past few days.

One of the other athletes Brady was compared to was Michael Jordan. Brady’s recent Super Bowl title moved him past the former Bulls superstar for the player who has the most championships between the two, sparking the debate over whether Brady is a better athlete of all time than Jordan.

As the debate raged on social media, a Twitter user posted a picture of Jordan wearing his six rings and a photo shoot of Brady wearing her six rings at the time, and took the same stance as Jordan. ‘There’s a table … and only these two can sit on it, ‘the user wrote with a goat emoji.

This is where Bill Russell decides to get involved. The Celtics legend, who turned 87 on Friday, responded to the tweet by writing: “You are approaching” and attached a picture of him with six title rings.

Of course, Russell has won more than six NBA titles since winning 11 championships with the Celtics. In fact, Russell has won an NBA title in all but 13 of his NBA seasons, and his 11 championships are equivalent to the most titles any player has won in any of the four major North American sports.

Russell’s tweet Friday is not the first time he has spoken in the recent debate. Former Colts coach Tony Dungy has denied the allegations in a statement issued Friday stating “Similar, baseless allegations concerning ESPN’s analysts have been made more than once.

Russell thanks Dungy and also brags a little.

‘8 of a row’, Russell wrote of his 11 titles. “Thank you for calling Coach.”
