According to the Land Report, Bill Gates is now the largest owner of agricultural land in America. While other tech billionaires like Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos hold the leading position as the richest man in the world, that has not stopped them from buying up more than 242,000 acres of agricultural land in 19 states.
Gates’ largest agricultural land is in Louisiana and Arkansas, where he owns only 116,998 acres in those areas. His purchase of agricultural land began as early as 2014 when he already owned at least 100,000 acres of agricultural land, but his most recent major land purchase was for a 14,500-acre piece in Horse Heaven Hills at a price of $ 171 million.
While this is uncertain, many conclude that the amount of land for future use by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in terms of sustainable farming and agricultural support for countries in need. Marketwatch notes that Bill Gates does own the most agricultural land in America, but he does not own the most land. The title goes to John Malone who owns more than 2.2 million acres of land in America.
