Big Tech setback against conservatives won’t calm the waters: Chaffetz

Fox News associate Jason Chaffetz said Big Tech’s actions against right-wing voters over the past week would not calm the waters in the country after the deadly riots in the Capitol.

“Those of us on the conservative side of the aisle who have lost tens of thousands of followers, and that oppression at the same time is not a recipe for unity,” the former Utah congressman told America’s Newsroom. “It’s not going to calm the waters and get air out of this balloon for a peaceful transfer of power, come the 20th.”

Since a pro-Trump mob stormed the Capitol building on Wednesday, killing at least five people, Twitter president Permanently suspended Twitter’s Twitter account, and right-wing social media site Parler on Monday went down after Amazon Web Services’ decision to suspend it from its cloud hosting service.

GOOGLE SCRAPS THE PARLER APP FROM PLAY STORE ABOUT GREAT CONTENT FAILURE

Google also announced on Friday that it would suspend the listing of Parler from its Play Store due to its failure to moderate the “serious content” posted by users regarding the Capitol violence.

Critics blew up Twitter for purging conservative accounts while doing nothing to people like left-wing comedian Kathy Griffin, who repeatedly posted a photo of her wearing a severed Trump head. The same gesture in 2017 led to a significant setback for her career.

“There’s no way the social media companies can look someone in the eye and say they did it on both sides,” he said. “It’s the unequal application of justice in this country, the unequal application of how the social media platforms have played it out, that only makes people angry and aggravates the situation.”

Chaffetz also criticized the media coverage of the riots in the Capitol by ardent Trump supporters, saying it showed a clear double standard by apologizing for left-wing violence last summer related to protests against Black Lives Matter.

“Hypocrisy just makes people nuts,” he said. ‘During the spring and summer, until the fall, you saw riots and looting and people destroying federal property. There are those of us on the right, conservatives, who call it wrong … [Vice President-elect] Kamala Harris sponsors people out of jail to get them back on the streets as soon as possible and pleads for cashless bail, and the media does not report on it … It’s outrageous. ‘
