Biden will address the joint session of Congress on April 28

WASHINGTON (AP) – President Joe Biden will address a congressional session for the first time on April 28.

Housewife Nancy Pelosi on Tuesday invited Biden to “share your vision to meet the challenges and opportunities of this historic moment.” The White House said Biden accepted the invitation.

The speech will come just before Biden’s 100th day in office, giving him the opportunity to keep the American public informed of his progress in keeping his promises. It will also give him the opportunity to speak out for the $ 2.3 billion infrastructure package he unveiled earlier this month, which the House wants to pass on July 4.

Traditionally, all members of Congress and guests gather for a joint sitting in the House, the larger of the two chambers. However, the address will definitely look different this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

During the pandemic, there were societal distances that required lawmakers to do floor voting and other matters in small groups, rather than gathering hundreds in the room. Masks are required and the public visitor galleries, which are usually filled for such an occasion, are closed during most of the pandemic.

Details on preparing the Capitol for the event were not immediately available.

Presidents do not deliver a speech for the state union to Congress before their second year in office.
