President Biden said that when he was younger, he did not dream of being president, but of playing for the NFL. The anchor and managing editor of CBS Evening News, Norah O’Donnell, spoke with Mr. Biden talks in the first network news interview he has had since his inauguration.
“I had wild dreams,” Mr Biden said. “It was not to be president. I thought I might be a flanker in the NFL. ‘
Mr. Biden played receiver at the high school in Delaware. His coach, E. John Walsh, told The New York Times in 2008 that Mr. Biden ‘was one of the best pass rates I have had in 16 years as a coach’. He also played freshman football at the University of Delaware.
O’Donnell asked him as a former receiver, who of Sunday’s star backs would he rather have played with: the forty-three-year-old NFL legend Tom Brady, or the 25-year-old reigning MVP Patrick Mahomes?
“Bradys is obviously a great quarterback,” he said. Biden said. “Mahomes looks like he has a lot of potential. And so, I’ll probably take a chance with the young man I did not expect so much from.”
“Do you think the Kansas City Chiefs might win?” Ask O’Donnell.
“Well, I did not say that,” Mr. Biden said. “I do not know who is going to win. I think they are both excellent backs. One is just a younger version, possibly, of an old, big back. Not old.
